Trinitite is the glassy residue left on the desert floor after the world’s first plutonium based test of the Trinity Nuclear Bomb on July 16, 1945, near Alamogordo, New Mexico. This exotic melt glass is primarily composed of quartz grains and feldspar that were melted by the intense atomic blast. Trinitite usually has a frothy light green texture and colors may vary between reds and greens. Trinitite is still mildly radioactive and yet remains safe to handle. This makes Trinitite the perfect historical material for collectors and history enthusiasts alike.
